 Illinois General Assembly --

New Program will Assist College Transfer Students

Palatine, IL…Students and university workers will soon have the ability to obtain information about transfer courses on the Internet under a new law co-sponsored by State Representative Suzie Bassi (R-Palatine).

The new law signed by Governor Blagojevich Tuesday requires the State Board of Education to implement and administer a statewide program using the Internet to assist students, advisors, faculty, and administrators of public and private higher education institutions in determining which courses will transfer to another institution. The board will be required to publish course equivalency guidelines, academic programs, courses offered, transfer course evaluations, and degree requirements.

“This new program will provide community college students, like the students at Harper College, with the tools needed to plan their higher education for the future,” said Bassi. “The program will also allow faculty and staff to better advise student on the courses they need to take to attain their educational goals.”

For more information, please contact Representative Bassi’s district office at 847-776-1880.
